Jonny Quest ha undici anni ed è il figlio del dott. Benton Quest, uno scienziato di fama internazionale. Il ragazzo, assieme al fratello adottivo Hadji (un indiano dotato di poteri paranormali), a Roger T. Bannon detto Race (la guardia del corpo del padre) ed al cagnolino Bandito, aiuta il genitore a risolvere dei misteri che accadono in ogni parte del mondo.

Ne è stato prodotto anche un sequel: Le avventure di Jonny Quest.
