La Pantera Rosa (dal nome originale "The Pink Panther") è un celebre personaggio del mondo dell'animazione, protagonista di una fortunata serie cartoni animati.
Il personaggio venne ideato per i titoli della serie di film del regista britannico Blake Edwards, il cui primo si intitola proprio "La Pantera Rosa".

La Pantera Rosa entra in scena flessuosa e suadente, fumando una sigaretta con il bocchino lungo, con un fare snob, elegante ed aristocratico, che la rende molto accattivante.
Il successo di questo personaggio fu immediato, grazie anche alla musica jazz di Henry Mancini, che con le celebri note del sax solista è diventata uno dei brani più conosciuti nel mondo dell'animazione del '900.
Negli anni seguenti, fu realizzata la prima serie di cartoni animati della Pantera Rosa, che per essere coerente con il personaggio, sarebbe stata sempre muta ed accompagnata dalla sua colonna sonora.
Non c'è infatti un bisogno impellente di sentire una voce perchè le gags sono di facile comprensione e molto divertenti.
Il tema ricorrente dei vari episodi è sempre intorno al povero ispettore Clouseau, un ometto basso e buffo con un grosso naso e dei baffetti, che nel tentativo di fare i dispetti alla Pantera Rosa finisce sempre per ritorcersi contro cosa cerca di fare.
Closeau è la vittima ricorrente nelle sue storie che la pantera rosa non manca mai di sbeffeggiare.
